ABOUT US
‘Give Us A Lift’ is a registered charity based in the UK. Our aim is to help communities, individuals and organisations, both in the local community and beyond. We’re an international humanitarian charity that strives to rid the world from poverty and inequality, and are determined in our support for organisations that deliver life-saving and life-changing interventions to some of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people.
OUR VALUES
Our values are rooted in the compassion and commitment of our founders, and have been shaped by 20 years of working with the poorest and most vulnerable communities. Our focus on ending extreme poverty and inequality is driven by our belief that all people are equal in rights, and should be treated with respect and dignity regardless of their circumstances.
We know that listening is a key part of empowering communities, allowing them to transform their own lives, and that partnerships are essential in order to make this possible. We are ready to respond where necessary, and ensure that people’s basic needs are met when disaster strikes. We’re also committed and courageous, and willing to go the extra mile to support communities, even in the most challenging of contexts. With innovative solutions that are both effective and pragmatic, we are at the same time transparent and accountable for all of our actions.
OUR MISSION
The needs of our communities are our priority, and we’re dedicated to addressing these. Whether creating awareness on climate change, or responding to an emergency humanitarian crisis, our mission is to ensure we do everything in our capacity towards building a better world, both in the present and the future.
OUR VISION
Our vision, our mission, and all of our work is defined by one goal: providing opportunities to all. Our supporters and volunteers on the ground are working together with people living in the most difficult situations, rebuilding and transforming lives, livelihoods and communities.
OUR SUPPORTERS
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to some very special individuals who have been instrumental in the charity’s success since the beginning:
Sir Peter Brown
Mrs Jan Mitman
Mr William Bill Sinclair
Without their unwavering support it would have been impossible to build the charity’s foundations as they stand today.
Another very special person is Dame Norma Major, who has given so much to this charity. She has been extremely inspirational and deserves all our gratitude for her ongoing commitment and support.
AMINUL ISLAM
A WORD FROM OUR TRUSTEES
“Mr. Aminul Islam was born in the Sylhet region of Bangladesh, in a very humble background. He witnessed terrible natural disasters growing up, famine, and the daily struggles of people in an extremely poor country. From a very young age he decided to play whatever role he could to assist those in need.
When he arrived in the UK and found more stable circumstances, he set up the charity to begin this invaluable work. Since Give Us A Lift’s inception, he has worked tirelessly to raise funds for a number of causes and organisations in local communities in the UK, as well as in Bangladesh and Southeast Asia.”
